This site provides information about the record company sleeves used for New Zealand pressed and distributed 7" vinyl 45s. There are some gaps and possible mistakes. If you can add a correct date or sleeve please add a comment or email us. The images of the centre labels are meant to be a guide. Some record companies produced multiple variations of their labels. Too many to show here. This site is dedicated to record sleeves.

Warner Bros / WEA

Warner Bros.

In 1960 Top Rank Records (NZ) Ltd, which later became Allied International began releasing the American label Warner Bros. in New Zealand. In 1962 the centre labels  began printing that they were now being manufactured by His Master's Voice and the back of the sleeves featured ads for His Master's Voice (NZ) Ltd. But, the front of the sleeves still said manufactured and distributed by Top Rank.  If anyone can shed some light on this please add a comment.

Warner Bros: 1960-69

I am unsure what sleeve was used from 1960 to 1962.

Sleeve 1962-69?

The above sleeve was printed with the same design featured on both sides as well as with ads on the back.

Peter, Paul and Mary's self titled album and the Music Man soundtrack were both released in 1962.

Sleeve Back 1962-?

The Record Player sleeve featured on the back of many His Master's Voice (NZ) Ltd distributed labels. I am unsure of the exact dates this sleeves was used. The prices in the ads are in Pounds, Shillings and Pence so it is before 1967 when the decimal currency was introduced in New Zealand. Possibly 1965-66. It was issued in  different colours.
